Talking to School Counselors

Think About It!

ADDYTeens should be working closely with your counselors to ensure you get a learning environment to meet your needs as adequately as other students.

ADDYTeens, remember having ADHD feels like wearing a heavy backpack filled with rocks. When you use Accommodations, its one way of taking some of those rocks out of the backpack.

Instead of starting a school year at a disadvantage, Accommodations gives you a more even start. They help you by giving you time to develop the skills needed to make up for some of your weaknesses. We all have weaknesses.

TIP: I had to learn how to advocate for myself and get those resources I needed to succeed.

Talking with your school counselor.

Listen up! Throughout middle and high school, ADDYTeens will have meetings every semester with teachers, counselors, and parents to talk about how the school year is going, your progress in each class, etc.

You will also need to talk with your school counselor in private, to get the help and resources you need. Use this Set PLAY to get the most out of your relationship with your school counselors.
